Ann Kao
Pediatric Clinical Advisor

Ann, a board certified Pediatrician and Internist, received her medical degree from the University of Washington, Seattle, in 2000, and completed her combined residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital for Children, and Children's Hospital, Boston in 2004. She also holds a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (2005), and a Masters in Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health (2007). In 2005, she worked in Banda Aceh, Indonesia on tsunami relief as part of Project HOPE. As a Durant Fellow in Refugee Medicine, Ann spent 2005-2006 in Rwanda, where she started a health center, hospital and HIV programs in a refugee camp under the auspices of the American Refugee Committee. She has also worked in Romania and Vietnam, on a Navajo reservation in Chinle, Arizona and with Latin American immigrants in Chelsea, Massachusetts. She joined the CHC in 2007, where she will help to expand pediatric TB and AIDS care in Phnom Penh, including the renovation and upgrading of the pediatric ward at the largest public hospital in Cambodia and assisting with medical care at the Maddox Chivan Children's Center.


Sounivone Phanthavong
Administrative Program Officer

Sounivone received her bachelor of science degree from Providence College in 2005. She joined the CHC in 2006, while working with the Goldfeld laboratory at the Immune Disease Institute and pursuing graduate studies towards a master's degree in public health. Sounivone coordinates the administrative programs of the CHC USA office and provides project assistance to CHC program activities.
